Company: Snowflake

Team or function you sell to: Data engineering

Snowflake data engineering: product-side buyers are named and verified, internal data-engineering buyers are thin and unconfirmed

1. Bottom line

Snowflake sells data engineering products, so a vendor selling into "data engineering" meets two different committees. The first is the internal data function, led by Chief Data & AI Officer Anahita Tafvizi and CIO Mike Blandina. The second is the product and engineering organisation under EVP Product Christian Kleinerman and SVP Engineering Vivek Raghunathan. My inference is that Tafvizi is the likeliest economic buyer for internal data tooling, because her team is described as Snowflake's own "customer zero". Raghunathan is the most visible technical sponsor on the engineering side, since he authored the TensorStax acquisition post on agentic data engineering. The main blocker risk is that Snowflake builds or acquires most pipeline tooling itself (Dynamic Tables, Openflow, Cortex Code), so a competing product is likely to be rejected. The best entry point is a complement that fills a gap in those products, pitched through the data-engineering product and partner channels or to the internal senior directors, whose current roles I could not verify.

2. Scope and assumptions

3. Function structure

No public org chart shows data engineering inside Snowflake. The hierarchy below is assembled from the leadership page and author pages. Links marked (inferred) are my reading of titles, not reported reporting lines.

CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy
├── EVP Product: Christian Kleinerman
│ └── VP Product, Data Engineering: Chris Child (role as of June 2025; current status unconfirmed) (inferred link)
├── SVP Engineering: Vivek Raghunathan
│ └── Data platform engineering (careers page lists Dynamic Tables, metadata and data lake roles; link to Raghunathan not stated) (inferred link)
├── CIO: Mike Blandina
│ └── Enterprise data engineering (senior director level, PDL only) (inferred link)
└── Chief Data & AI Officer: Anahita Tafvizi
└── Internal data and AI platform teams, "customer zero" (inferred link)

The leadership page lists Ramaswamy as CEO, Kleinerman as EVP Product, Raghunathan as SVP of Engineering and a CIO, and shows Blandina's portrait labelled as CIO. The careers page for the data platform group says the group builds pipeline infrastructure "from ingestion to transformation and beyond", and lists roles such as Engineering Manager, Dynamic Tables. The page carries a 2025 copyright date, so treat it as possibly stale.

4. Buying committee

Name Title Likely role (inference) Confidence Key priorities Evidence
Anahita Tafvizi Chief Data & AI Officer Economic buyer, internal data tooling High on title Snowflake as its own first customer; AI-ready data foundations Snowflake author page, undated
Mike Blandina Chief Information Officer Economic buyer, enterprise IT and data platforms; possible blocker on security and procurement High on title Enterprise systems; ex-JPMorgan Chase payments CIO Technology Magazine, 2 May 2025; leadership page
Christian Kleinerman EVP, Product Executive sponsor on product roadmap and partner decisions High on title Product roadmap including data engineering Leadership page
Vivek Raghunathan SVP of Engineering Technical sponsor and champion for pipeline tooling; owner of build-versus-buy High on title Agentic AI for data engineering Author page; TensorStax post, 4 Feb 2026
Chris Child VP of Product, Data Engineering (as of June 2025) Champion for partner integrations; likely product owner for the category Medium; current role unconfirmed Release themes: Openflow, dbt Projects, Iceberg, Snowpipe Streaming (not his stated priorities) Openflow press release, 3 June 2025
Mark Kidwell Senior director of enterprise data engineering Internal technical evaluator or champion Low (PDL, last updated October 2024) Not found PDL search result
James Isbell Senior director, analytics and data engineering Internal technical evaluator Low (PDL, September 2025) Not found PDL search result
Satya Kota Director, data engineering Internal technical evaluator Low (PDL, February 2025; possibly stale) Not found PDL search result
Kevin Hannon Managing director, data engineering go-to-market Field-side partner contact Low (PDL, May 2025) Not found PDL search result
Field CTO data engineering architects (Sharvan Kumar, Yoav Ostrinsky, Daniel Chaffelson, Christoph Wiese) Platform or principal architects, data engineering Technical evaluators for partner fit Low (PDL, dates from February 2024 to August 2025) Not found PDL search result

The Low-confidence rows are leads to verify, not confirmed staff. PDL gave one entry (Mark Goh) whose listed LinkedIn address does not match the name, so I dropped it.

6. Function priorities and triggers

7. Engagement plan

  1. Product and partner route first (inference). Start with Chris Child's product team or the partner programme, with a clear fit to Openflow, Dynamic Tables or Cortex Code. Message: your product extends the roadmap rather than competing with it.
  2. Engineering sponsor. If there is a technical edge, such as agent verification or cross-tool orchestration, brief Raghunathan's organisation. Message: speed to market beats a build. Likely objection: Snowflake can build it, as the TensorStax deal shows.
  3. Internal buyer. Approach Tafvizi's team after verifying the senior directors. Message: measurable gains for the customer-zero programme and fit with Snowflake's own products. Likely objection: the team must use Snowflake first-party tools.
  4. IT governance. Blandina's organisation will likely review security, cost and vendor risk. Prepare security documentation and a clear ownership model before the review.

Reach paths are public only: Snowflake events such as Summit, the company blog, the partner programme, and official Snowflake contact channels.
