Money Transmitter Vetting: Bright Pay Inc, Summit Roofing LLC, Nordlend AB (no licence confirmed for any of the three)
Interpretations: "money transmitter" was mapped to New York Banking Law Article 13-B licensing by DFS (managed through NMLS) for row 1, to the California DFPI money transmitter directory for row 2, and to a Finansinspektionen (FI) payment institution or registered payment service provider (betalningsinstitut) for row 3 (inference for the Swedish mapping; the FI register lists these as separate categories). Row 2 has an explicit jurisdiction (CA), row 3 is Sweden, and row 1 is New York. No rows were skipped or deduplicated. All checks were run on 2026-10-05. Nothing was found for any row, and several registers could not be searched live (see Coverage).

Row notes
Bright Pay Inc (Review).
- Evidence: DFS states that no person may transmit money in New York without a licence under Banking Law Article 13-B, and that licences are managed in NMLS. I could not run a name search of the DFS licensee list or NMLS Consumer Access, so licence status is unchecked, not "not found". An OpenCorporates search for "Bright Pay" and "Bright Pay Inc" in New York, and a global search for "Bright Pay Inc", returned no companies.
- Recommendation: ask the counterparty for its NMLS ID and NY licence number and check them directly on NMLS Consumer Access. The input has no legal entity number, so identity is also unconfirmed.
Summit Roofing LLC (Escalate).
- Evidence: The DFPI directory page, updated 24 August 2026, contained no "Summit Roofing" entry (text search of a Bright Data copy of the page; the browser fetch returned 403, so this negative result rests on that single copy). OpenCorporates lists SUMMIT ROOFING, LLC (no. 201233610116), an active out-of-state LLC with a Reno, NV address, among several similarly named California entities such as Summit Roofing Services LLC and Summit Peak Roofing LLC. The name suggests a roofing contractor, which fits a contractor licence (CSLB) and not money transmission.
- Recommendation: confirm why a roofing firm is on a money transmitter list. If a roofing licence was intended, rerun with the licence type "roofing contractor (C-39)". Treat the money transmitter status as not found.
Nordlend AB (Escalate).
- Evidence: FI's company register returned "Din sökning på 'Nordlend' gav inga resultat", and OpenCorporates returned no Swedish company named Nordlend (only a Panamanian NORDLEND, S.A.; query log not saved). The register covers licensed and registered-only firms, so this is not proof that the firm is unregulated elsewhere (for example under a passport from another EEA state), which I did not check.
- Recommendation: request the organisationsnummer and licence or passport details from the counterparty, then check the FI register by number and the EBA payment institutions register.
Do next
- Ask all three counterparties for legal entity number, NMLS ID or FI reference, and the exact licence type they claim.
- Check Bright Pay Inc by NMLS ID on NMLS Consumer Access and the NY DFS licensee list (not reachable here).
- Confirm with the requester whether Summit Roofing LLC is meant for a money transmitter check at all.
- Check Nordlend AB under an EEA passport (EBA register) and by organisationsnummer.
- Once identities are confirmed, run the requested surety bond, liability insurance, CFPB complaint and lien and judgment checks, none of which were completed.
Near misses
- Bright Pay Limited (UK) and Bright Pay LLC (Novato, CA) appeared in search-result titles only (a Companies House record, number not verified); I did not open or verify them, and they are a different jurisdiction or form from the input.
- NRDLND AB (org. no. 5593461170) appeared in a search result by title only (Bolagsfakta page blocked, not read; number unverified). The name differs from Nordlend AB and I have not matched it. NORDLEND, S.A. in Panama is a different entity.
- Summit Roofing (CSLB licence 975425, Reno NV, sole ownership) is a contractor licence record on a third-party mirror, a sole proprietor and not an LLC, so I excluded it.
- Other California LLCs: Alpine Summit Roofing LLC, Summit Roofing Services LLC, Summit Peak Roofing LLC and Sierra Summit Roofing LLC (terminated) per OpenCorporates; all excluded on name.
Coverage
Reached: DFS licensing page, DFPI money transmitter directory (text search), FI company register search, OpenCorporates. Not reached or not searched: NMLS Consumer Access (interactive, fetch failed), the DFS licensee list by name, EBA register, FinCEN MSB search, CFPB complaint database, BBB, court and lien records (liens and judgments, complaints and insurance checks are unchecked for all rows).
