Topic or skill: introductory statistics: sampling and confidence intervals

Learner context: high school, ages 15–17, mixed ability, 50-minute classes

Language: Spanish

Formats or license limits (optional): videos and datasets only; CC BY or CC0, no NC

Muestreo e intervalos de confianza en español: 9 videos CC BY y 4 conjuntos de datos abiertos, con lagunas claras

Interpretation: Introductory statistics (sampling, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, margin of error) for mixed-ability high school students aged 15 to 17, in Spanish, 50-minute classes. Videos and datasets only. Licence filter: CC BY or CC0 only, so BY-SA, NC and unlicensed items were excluded. All pages were accessed on 6 October 2026.

How I checked licences: For the YouTube videos I opened each watch page in the browser and read the licence line, which showed "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" for all nine. YouTube's CC option is the CC BY licence. I did not watch the videos, and I did not capture upload dates, so level fit is my judgement from title, channel and length. Preview every video before class.

Shortlist (ordered by usefulness for this class)

Title (with link) Provider Format Level fit Language License (exact) Length Fit notes
Introducción a Distribución muestral de Medias con reemplazo Alianza B@UNAM, CCH & ENP (YouTube channel) Video Good: appears aimed at pre-university students (channel name; unverified) Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 9:28 (YouTube search listing) Best opener for sampling distributions. Pause after the first example and have students draw their own samples.
Explicación con Excel del Teorema del Límite Central Alianza B@UNAM, CCH & ENP Video Good: spreadsheet demo suits mixed ability Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 5:31 Short enough for a 10-minute starter. Pair with the TeensLab data below so students repeat the demo.
Muestreo e Inferencia 01 Muestras Pepe Álvarez (YouTube channel) Video Adapt: likely university style; check pace Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 12:33 Covers samples versus populations. Use only the first part with younger or weaker groups.
Tipos de Muestreo estadístico Patricia Rodríguez (YouTube channel) Video Good: short, one topic Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 7:49 Sampling methods (random, stratified and so on). Good for a sorting activity afterwards.
Intervalos de confianza (cálculo) Luis Medina Gual (YouTube channel) Video Stretch: calculation focus; scaffold with a worked example first Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 10:33 Core confidence-interval video. Show in two halves with practice between.
Tema 2 ejercicio 5: tamaño muestral e intervalo de confianza para una proporción Estadística UVa (YouTube channel) Video Stretch: worked university exercise Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 3:27 Links sample size and a proportion interval. Use as a worked-example model for stronger students.
Encuestas electorales. ¿Les creemos? Hanwen Zhang (YouTube channel) Video Good: real-world hook; check content first Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 15:53 Possible margin-of-error context. I did not confirm it explains margin of error; preview and use a segment. Election topic: keep discussion non-partisan.
Teorema del límite central - Continua - Probabilidad y Estadística Mildred Castillo (YouTube channel) Video Stretch: formal wording likely Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 5:17 Second option on the CLT for advanced students.
Inferencia Estadistica: 04 Intervalo de confianza para la media Pepe Álvarez (YouTube channel) Video Stretch: 14:44, likely university level Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" 14:44 Extension only. Too long for one class segment without a break.
TeensLab dataset (Zenodo) TeensLab consortium (Spain), on Zenodo Dataset Good: real teenage data; treat it as a "population" and draw samples Spanish students; record page and description in English "Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International" (record page); "This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) 4.0 International License." 5,890 observations from 33 centres, ages 10 to 23; CSV 3.4 MB Best dataset here. Filter to ages 15 to 17 before use. Check the "Variables description.pdf" on the record, and confirm no identifying fields before sharing with students. Documentation is in English.
Aprender 2022, Secundaria 5-6 año, Agregada, Solo CC Secretaría de Educación, Argentina (datos.gob.ar) Dataset Adapt: aggregated school-level results; contextual questionnaire Spanish "Licencia Creative Commons Attribution 4.0" CSV; row count and file size not stated on the page The page labels this file "Censal" (census-style). Useful for drawing samples of schools and comparing sample means to the full file. Data last updated 15 July 2025 (page). Dictionary and methodology are linked on the same dataset page.
Tasas según tipo, grupo de edad y sexo (Aragón Open Data) Instituto Aragonés de Estadística Dataset Adapt: percentages from the national labour-force survey (EPA), not raw rows Spanish "Creative Commons Attribution 4.0" PC-Axis (.px) and HTML table; size not stated Source data are sample-survey based ("Datos estadísticos muestrales"). Good for discussing why published rates carry sampling error. Not suitable for drawing samples. Data dictionary linked on the page.
Encuesta anual de hogares (Buenos Aires Data) Dirección General de Estadística y Censos, Ciudad de Buenos Aires Dataset Stretch: household survey, many variables Spanish "CC-BY-2.5-AR" File formats, sizes and row counts not confirmed Page shows updated 21 April 2026. Check the user-base files for personal data and the weighting notes before classroom use.

Gaps and best starting point

The biggest gap is a complete, school-level Spanish unit under CC BY. I did not check Khan Academy en español or other Spanish course series in this run, so I cannot say whether any meets your licence limit. Also missing: any CC BY video I could confirm teaches margin of error directly at secondary level, and any interactive resampling demo (the brief excluded simulations anyway). The video list is YouTube-channel based: licences are per upload and the uploaders are mostly individual teachers or university units, so the level fit is the weakest part of this list.

Start with Introducción a Distribución muestral de Medias con reemplazo followed by the TeensLab dataset: the video gives the idea of repeated samples, and the dataset lets students do it themselves with real teenage data.

Coverage note

I could not reach video lists from Khan Academy en español, Wikimedia Commons, OER Commons, MERLOT or ministry repositories in this run, so they were not searched in depth. Video upload dates were not captured. YouTube licence lines, the Zenodo, Kaggle and Buenos Aires details came from live browser reads that were not saved as evidence files, so re-check the licence line on each page before use (an independent spot-check confirmed two of the nine YouTube pages only partially). YouTube durations come from search listings and I did not play the videos. Dataset row counts were confirmed only for TeensLab. Licence readings are not legal advice; confirm terms before commercial reuse.
