Introducing the Skills Library

Create custom skills from your procedures and documents, then reuse them in chat and across agents.

We're launching one new feature every day this week. First up is the Skills Library: a place to create custom skills for the procedures and processes you use across multiple agents.

If two agents need to follow the same procedure, you can give them the same skill. You can also use that skill directly in chat.

Turn a procedure into a skill

Start by describing the procedure or process you want Grep to follow. Grep uses deep research to create the skill prompts and supporting context files, then adds them to your Skills Library.

You can attach your own documents as part of that process. This gives you a way to turn your team's institutional knowledge into a skill that agents can use, rather than having to explain the same procedure each time you need it.

The workflow is straightforward:

Describe the procedure. Tell Grep what process you want to turn into a skill.

Add your documents. Attach the material that explains how your team does the work.

Reuse the skill. Use it in chat or add it to the agents that need the procedure.

Use the same skill across different agents

In the demo, we create a skill for merchant classification. We then use it in chat and in two different agents: one for enterprise onboarding and another for small-business onboarding.

Those agents handle different onboarding workflows, but both need the merchant-classification procedure. The Skills Library lets that procedure live in one reusable skill.

When the procedure changes, update the skill once. The agents using it follow the updated process. You do not have to maintain a separate version of those instructions for each agent.

Start with a procedure your team already uses

Choose a process that comes up in more than one workflow. Describe it, attach the documents your team relies on, and turn it into a skill you can reuse.
