Effort levels
What Low, Medium and High actually change.
Step 1
What effort changes
How long Grep works, and how hard it checks itself.
Effort is the one dial that decides how much work Grep puts into a task. Higher effort reads more sources, checks more of its own claims, and takes longer.

Step 2
The three levels
Pick by how much the answer has to carry.
| Level | Takes | Stands in for | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low Effort | ~30 sec | ~30 min of human work | Quick answers and simple lookups. Marked BETA in the product. |
| Medium Effort | ~5 min | ~3–4 hours of human work | Focused research with cited sources. The right default for most business research. |
| High Effort | 20+ min | 24+ hours of human work | Work that is fact-checked, sources verified and confidence rated. |
If you are not sure, use Medium. Move up to High when missing a source would change the answer, and down to Low when you just need a fact.

Step 3
What each level costs
Credits are reserved up front, then reconciled.
Each task reserves credits when it starts. When it finishes, Grep charges what it actually used and returns the rest — or charges the difference if the real cost was higher.
| Level | Reserved at start |
|---|---|
| Low Effort | 2 credits |
| Medium Effort | 20 credits |
| High Effort | 100 credits |

Step 4
Follow-ups
Often free of a new run.
A follow-up continues a task you already ran, in the same chat. When Grep can answer from what it already found, it does, without starting new research or taking a new hold. When the follow-up needs more research, Grep starts a run at the effort it judges right, and that run reserves credits like any other.
- Make this more concise.
- Add a table comparing pricing and target customers.
- Find more evidence for the second recommendation.
